Temporary Closure Notice

Please note that our office will be temporarily closed from September 7 through September 22. We will resume normal office hours on September 23 and look forward to assisting you then!

If you anticipate needing tax preparation, accounting, bookkeeping, or other financial services, we encourage you to reach out and schedule ahead before the end of August to ensure your needs are addressed prior to our closure.

FAQ

Are you accepting new clients this tax season?
At this time, Poeman’s Tax Prep & Accounting is unable to accept new clients for the current tax season.
Due to being short‑staffed this year, our team is focusing on providing the highest level of service to our existing clients. We truly appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope to welcome new clients again next tax season once we have additional tax preparers available. Please feel free to check back with us later in the year for updates.
What documents should I bring for my tax appointment?
For your tax appointment, please bring a government‑issued ID and Social Security cards (or ITINs) for everyone included on the return, along with all tax‑related documents such as W‑2s, 1099s, 1098s, year‑end bank and investment statements, mortgage interest statements, property tax receipts, childcare provider information, and any business income/expense records if you’re self‑employed.

Current clients do not need to bring last year’s return—it’s already in our system.

Important for this year: Anyone who receives a paycheck/W‑2 must bring their final December 2025 paycheck stub, as it’s required for accurate reporting.
Do you offer virtual or drop‑off tax preparation?
We do not offer virtual tax preparation, but we’re always happy to speak with you by phone if you have questions during the process.
We do accept drop‑off tax documents for current clients only. If you’re a new client, we ask that you schedule an in‑person appointment so we can ensure everything is prepared accurately.
How much does tax preparation cost?
Pricing depends on return complexity (number of forms, schedules, and states). We’ll provide a transparent estimate after a quick intake. Typical individual returns start at a base rate, with add‑ons for self‑employment, rental properties, or multi‑state filings. Business returns (S‑Corp, C‑Corp, Partnership) are quoted case‑by‑case.
Can you help if I’m self‑employed or own a small business?
Absolutely. We prepare Schedule C returns, provide bookkeeping clean‑ups, and file S‑Corp, C‑Corp, and Partnership returns. We also advise on reasonable compensation, estimated taxes, and year‑round strategies to help reduce surprises at tax time.
Do you handle tax extensions?
Yes. If you need more time, we can file an extension on your behalf. Please note an extension extends the filing deadline, not the payment deadline. We’ll help estimate and submit any amount due to minimize penalties and interest. If you are a new client we need a copy of your last tax return in our office before we can process it since they are not in our computer system.
Will you help if I get an IRS or state notice?
Yes. We provide post‑filing support for notices and can represent you in responding to IRS or state inquiries related to returns we prepared. Bring or upload the notice and we’ll review next steps with you.
Can you help me get ready for next year’s taxes?
Definitely. We offer mid‑year and year‑end planning, estimated tax calculations, and withholding reviews to help you avoid surprises. For business clients, we can review books quarterly and recommend proactive strategies before year‑end.
Do you offer bookkeeping and payroll services?
Yes. We provide monthly bookkeeping, financial statements, 1099 filing, and payroll support for small businesses. Clean books mean a smoother, faster, and more accurate tax return.
